Rafters Star Wins Outstanding Pitcher Award

Ramón Vásquez of the Grand Rapids Rafters was in command and couldn't do much wrong when he was on the mound this season. His outstanding 15-3 won-lost mark and 2.13 ERA were big factors in his winning the 2042 Rocky Mountain League Outstanding Pitcher Award.

In 156.1 innings of work and 28 starts, Vásquez struck out 126 while giving up 122 hits and 59 walks. He held opposing batters to a .217 average.

He received 26 first place votes out of a possible 32. Henry Cluett of the Thornton Sun Dogs finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Xavier Aldridge of the Henderson Fighting Scotts finished third with 1 first place vote.

Bonilla Takes Home AML Outstanding Pitcher Award

This year, the top vote-getter for the 2042 Outstanding Pitcher Award was Ralph Bonilla of the Mansfield Mohicans, who finished with an outstanding 14-6 mark and an impressive 2.45 ERA.

In his award-winning season, the 23-year-old Mohicans star hurled 183.1 innings, chalking up 189 strikeouts and 38 walks, and limited hitters to a .210 batting average.

He received 20 first place votes out of a possible 32. Kevin Miller of the Mansfield Mohicans finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Tony Romero of the Jefferson County Independence finished third with 8 first place votes.
