| Breaking News | | Hughes Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Tenpinners Friday, August 5th, 2011: Bombs away! Yuma bombardier Jack Hughes set his sights on the stands and blasted three balls over the fence in a 14-8 win over the Reno Tenpinners. It was a powerful performance that should keep the fans at John Deere Stadium buzzing for days.
He spoke to the writers in the postgame press room and said, "I guess you could say I was a good guesser today... especially on the last one... I was ahead in the count, so I got set for a certain pitch... and got it... all of it."
For the game the Yuma catcher had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5 and scored 4 runs.
J. Hughes hit a solo-shot off I. Ito in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off I. Ito in the 3rd, walked in a run in the 4th, struck out in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off J. Henderson in the 7th.

The London Underground second baseman tore into New Jersey for 5 hits in 5 at-bats and wrote his name into the record book. But it wasn't enough to win the game. The New Jersey Hitmen swept past the Underground 8-7 to ruin the day for him.
The London manager bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game. The Hitmen got too many good looks today, and we paid for it."
D. Mitchell singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
Mitchell is batting .291 this season in 79 games with 4 home runs, 34 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He has 88 hits in 302 at-bats. | | Bad News for Aurora, Roach Injured Thursday, August 4th, 2011: The Aurora Borealis announced this afternoon that starting pitcher John Roach would be out of action for 2 weeks.
