He made it!
Artie Marsh got hit #2000! The Warriors second baseman got his milestone hit at Doyle Buhl Stadium against Reno. But it wasn't enough to bring home the victory. Duluth was beaten by the Zephyrs 7-3.
Marsh's reaction to his accomplishment was nonchalant. He doffed his batting helmet to acknowledge the fans, who were chanting his name.
His manager said, "Artie doesn't pay any attention to individual statistics, the only thing he cares about is winning. He will be more concerned that we lost the game."
Marsh finished the game with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
In his career Marsh has played in 1683 games with a .292 batting average. Among his 2001 hits are 401 doubles, 55 triples and 86 home runs. He also has scored 1030 runs and driven in 736 runs. |

Hubert Lee stole the headlines today by hitting for the cycle in the Crystal Lake 9-4 win over the Tempe Knights. His 4 hits got the Sandgnats offense going and his 3 RBI and 1 run scored helped to seal the verdict.
Hubert Lee walked in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Bobby Bryant in the 8th.
Lee is presently hitting at a .240 pace with 3 home runs, 29 RBIs and has scored 26 times. |
 | SL Names Yuma's Frederick Top Rookie

Almost everyone agreed -- fans, teammates, peers -- and BNN sportwriters, too -- that Ron Frederick was worthy of the Sovereign League Rookie of the Month award.
In the month of July the Yuma first baseman was a bigtime threat. The 29-year-old Yuma first baseman played in 25 games and hit .354 with 7 doubles, no triples and 6 home runs. Frederick also scored 15 times and drove in 19 runs.
For the season Frederick is hitting .289, batted in 57 runs with 17 home runs and 54 runs scored. |
