Rodan Snatch 4-3 Win
|
The Kyoto Rodan knocked off the Niigata Gigans, 4-3, in Rocky Mountain League action at Gigans Ballpark. Kyoto pitcher and Niigata, Japan, native Naozane Sakai had an outstanding performance. Sakai picked up the win for Kyoto, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-5. Getting the save was Kazunari Oike, his 4th.
Kyoto used the hitting of Ray O'Neal to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rodan on top, 4-2. For the game, O'Neal had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," O'Neal told a Kyoto News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
With the win over Niigata, the Rodan improved to 25-40.
