The Chandler Waxers took Sioux Falls pitcher Ryan Tate's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Chandler. The final score had Chandler getting past the Lakota, 4-1. Tate went 7 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 9. Pedro Montés, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The Waxers, now 5-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Chandler won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Emerson MacDonald on the mound for Sioux Falls, designated hitter Gael Hollingsworth hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Waxers fans to their feet.
In postgame remarks, Hollingsworth simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
