Anchormen Pick Up 14-5 Win
Newport News catcher José Ventura made his presence felt in the 14-5 Anchormen triumph over the Fayetteville Braggarts. Ventura was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit 2 times. He scored 3 runs. Arnold Carmody got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. The last-place Anchormen lifted their record to 50-88.

The Anchormen got a big at-bat from third baseman Ramón Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Newport News a 7-5 lead.
