Ito Helps Mohicans Beat Anchormen, 9-1
|
A good performance from first baseman Yo Ito helped the Mansfield Mohicans defeat the Newport News Anchormen, 9-1. Ito was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Mohicans. Tony Correa was credited with the save for Mansfield, his 3rd of the season. The first-place Mohicans go to 92-44.
The Mohicans got a big at-bat from left fielder Kenzo Yamauchi. For the game, Yamauchi went 1-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Mansfield a 3-1 lead.
Yamauchi said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
