Mohicans Improve to 74-34 with 5-1 Win
|
The Mansfield Mohicans topped the Clifton Dons, 5-1, in Appalachian Mountain League action at Sprinters Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Mansfield pitcher Héctor Ventura. Hideaki Hasegawa earned his 7th save in 7 tries. The first-place Mohicans, at 74-34, now lead their division by 11½ games.
The Mohicans got a big at-bat from right fielder Won-suk Park. For the game, Park was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 14th double of the season gave Mansfield a 4-1 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Ventura told the Mansfield Daily News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
