Golden Sands Deal Tri-Staters 6-5 Loss
|
Aberdeen center fielder Tony Sánchez was a significant contributor in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Evansville Tri-Staters. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for Aberdeen. Kenny Boone went 8 innings for Aberdeen to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 5 runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record improves to 4-1. Jing-quo Jiu recorded the save for Aberdeen, his 5th of the season.
Aberdeen used the bat of Bernardo Mendoza to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Golden Sands ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Mendoza told the Aberdeen Gazette.
The loss makes Evansville 16-11.
