Mohicans Win, Ito 4-4
|
The Mansfield Mohicans defeated the Chesapeake Bay Oysters, 8-2, at Sprinters Ballpark. Mansfield first baseman Yo Ito had a superb performance. He went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Akira Nakagawa picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 2-0. With the win, Mansfield improves its record to 4-2.
Ito contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Mansfield in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Ito took a slider from Dan Wallace and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Mohicans to leap in front, 2-1.
"This team is on a mission," said Ito, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
