Pete Card never let the Fireflies get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Monsters to a win, 3-0. Kauai is now 71-33, 15½ games up in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.

The Monsters got a big at-bat from right fielder Roberto García. For the game, García went 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Kauai a 1-0 lead.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said García.
