Road Win Lifts Cy-Fair HS to 2-1 Lead in R1
|
Despite a great performance by DeSoto Central HS starter Jacob Tucker, the Cy-Fair HS Bobcats defeated the Panthers by the score of 3-2 at DeSoto Central Grounds today. Tucker threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball, but he couldn't prevent the Bobcats from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Cy-Fair HS now leads the Round 1 2-1.
Had Bill Reid not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Reid hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bobcats.
"We haven't forgotten how long this series might be, but 2-1 is a heck of a lot better than 1-2," Reid said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at DeSoto Central Grounds in Southaven.
