The rain did not keep Hilo and Kailua from finishing their game.
Getting offensive support from Ron Lowe, the Hilo Hoops topped the Kailua Hanso, 5-3. Lowe belted 2 home runs for the Hoops. Hilo reliever Louis Atkins was credited with the win, to go to 4-0. River Donaldson took the loss for Kailua. Jo Nii locked down his 8th save.
Eugen Lang, who is tied for 10th in the HL in home runs with 27, aided the Hilo cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the third baseman drew 2 walk.
"Win or lose," Lang reflected afterward, "baseball is a beautiful game."
The 'W' lifts Hilo's record to 49-48.
