The Kauai Monsters picked up a win at Brewers Ballpark, knocking off the Hilo Hoops, 5-2. Starting pitcher Pete Card played a key role in the triumph. Card got the win, improving to 12-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. Card allowed 1 run. Lloyd Willerton nailed down his 15th save.
The Monsters got a big at-bat from first baseman Paul Carruthers. For the game, Carruthers was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 44th home run of the season gave Kauai a 2-0 lead.
