Lakers Come Up Short at Provo, 2-1
|
The Provo Missionaries got a stellar performance from pitcher Jack Ring, who handcuffed the Racine offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Field of the Missionaries. Ring got the win, improving to 5-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. Ring allowed 1 run. Jimmy Campbell closed the door for Provo, picking up his 27th save of the year.
Luis Pérez had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Provo. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Provo in front, 2-0.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Ring, "but we really needed that win."
Provo has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
