The Waimalu Nene topped the Kailua Hanso, 9-4, in Hawaiian League action at Blue Birds Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Waimalu pitcher and Managua, Nicaragua, native Cristián Castillo. Kailua has now lost 4 straight.

Waimalu used a clutch hit from Cleary MacPhedron to snatch the win. The pinch hitter belted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nene ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was huge.

"Cristián just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Waimalu manager Carlos Rivera.
