Missionaries Score Late to Upend Emancipation, 2-1
|
The Provo Missionaries had to overcome a good performance from Lincoln pitcher Juan Mata to claim a 2-1 win at Field of the Missionaries. Mata went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The Missionaries go to 54-36, putting them second in the Rocky Mountain League West.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Provo trailing 1-0, Edgardo Longoria jumped on a first pitch sinker from Roberto Alicea for a 2-run home run, sending the Missionaries to a walk-off win.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Provo manager Kumanosuke Kawano.
