Grunts Snatch Late Win
|
Homer got a valiant performance from pitcher Bruce Booth, but it wasn't enough to beat the Fairbanks Grunts. Fairbanks won the game, 4-3. Booth threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Fairbanks reliever Antonio Gonçalves was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Domingo Méndez took the loss. At 40-32, the Grunts are currently third in the Alaskan League Klondike.
Eric Lewis contributed to the Fairbanks win with a solo home run in the top of the ninth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Fairbanks manager Tuo-zhou Yang.
