Yuma Clinches! Fans Fed Free Frijoles!

2 October 2020: Yuma, AZ — In a move worthy of an entrepreneurial genius, former Yuma restauranteur Anna of Anna’s Mexican Food, recently forced to close by repeated riots in Old Town, averted another night of looting and burning by launching a new business: a food truck serving free burritos and tacos to Bulldozer fans celebrating in the streets after the Dozers defeated Palm Springs 8-5 to clinch at least a tie for the Desert Hills division championship.

Yuma police were prepared for another evening of riots. “We knew the Dozers would clinch one of these nights,” explained Police Chief Virginia Beatrice, “we just didn’t know when. But we were ready.”

Asked if police were disappointed they didn’t get to put their brand new riot gear to use, the Chief said, “Of course not. We were tickled pink when Anna’s food truck showed up and began handing out tacos. I think some of my officers even had time for a bite or two.”

Anna was too busy to be interviewed as she and her recently re-hired waitress Lauraine Palm worked from inside the truck for two hours non-stop, passing out free food and free sodas. Young people who’d come downtown to celebrate, and perhaps spread a little mayhem, found a quiet Old Town district peopled by satiated customers. And a very strange looking food truck.

Anna’s Mexican Food restaurant reborn as a Dozer-like food truck!

Anna had the bright idea of making her new food truck look just like the bulldozer icon associated with the local ball club. “Very very chic,” said one satisfied customer.

The food truck worked like magic, as young people lined up for free food and forgot all about storming the streets of Yuma or firebombing local businesses.

One trash can was set afire, but a half dozen young Dozer fans doused it with their sodas and the fire was out before most people had noticed it. The youngsters laughed at their own fire-fighting prowess. “Oh, yeah, dude, it was like gnarly, y’know, ‘cuz like last week—I shouldn’t say this but, like, who gives a shiv, right? We wuz trashing and burning like crazy dudes and now this week, it’s like very very laid back, y’know? Definitely flat water out here tonight.”
