Guantanamo HS Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Friday, May 3rd , 2041 Guantanamo HS Diamond Cats won a nail-biting series against the Hoorn Schooners 4-3, wrapping up the Round 1 finale 4-0 at Hoorn Grounds. Diamond Cats second baseman Dave McIver was named the series MVP. He batted .324, drove in 7 runs and scored 5 to lead Guantanamo HS into the next round of play. "Dave was real solid for us, real solid," said Diamond Cats manager Karl Kelly. "I normally say I'd like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time." The Guantanamo HS Diamond Cats will play against the Eton Rifles in the next round. Eton won their series against the Canuck HS Battlecats 4 games to 1.
