Rhodes Crashes 3 HR Against Angoon
Friday, September 13th , 2041
Kenai Traders first baseman Jimmy Rhodes sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Angoon Avalanche, Rhodes told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Rhodes pushed the Traders past the Avalanche, 9-8. To go along with the homers, he collected 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Rhodes told reporters after the game.
Jimmy Rhodes flied out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Hilton Hall in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Ryuichi Baba in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Ryuichi Baba in the 8th.
This year, Rhodes is batting .248 with 31 home runs and 66 RBIs. In 86 games he has scored 52 times.
