Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Friday, August 8th , 2042
Yesterday at Graviton High Paul Briggs and Thomas Howard got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Magami Ako and Tijuana Saguaros. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Briggs will have to sit out 4 while Howard would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
So far this season, Briggs has 12 home runs and a .262 batting average.
During this season, Howard has no relief appearances and registered 0 saves. Batters are hitting him at a .251 rate and his season record is 2-7 with a 5.51 ERA. He has logged 65.1 innings and struck out 46.
