Torres Tags Pioneers for 5 Hits Thursday, June 19th , 2042 The Portsmouth Dockhands stopped the Fort Wayne Pioneers by a score of 7-4 at Ship Yard, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Javier Torres. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Torres said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Torres did just that in his 7 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Pioneers. "Not much that I can say," offered Fort Wayne manager Sakutaro Fujii. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Javier Torres flied out in the 2nd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th, singled in the 12th and hit a three-run home run off Shuichi Endo in the 14th.
