Saturday, August 30th , 2042
The Leeds Locomotives were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Evansville Tri-Staters and hurler Sergio Sánchez. Sánchez kept the Locomotives confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Sánchez," Leeds manager Ray Graham said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 29-year-old left-hander had no walks and 8 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Sánchez said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
On the season, Sánchez has a 5-8 record with a 3.29 ERA.
