Ernst Hitless, Streak Ends at 20 Monday, May 19th , 2042 The Jefferson County Independence did something to Jimmy Ernst no team had done for the last 20 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Dons, who came away with the 4-3 victory at Clifton Stadium. "Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 26-year-old third baseman said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted." So far this year, Ernst has hit .265 with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 16 runs scored. |
