Davis goes 3-for-3 in Barrow Win
|
The Barrow Arctic Blast handed the Akutan Island Eagles a loss at Ballpark of Carthage. The final score was 8-0. Edgar Davis made the highlight reel for Barrow. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 4 runs and drove in 3. He also added 2 bases on balls. Marco Elbaz, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held Akutan Island to no runs on 2 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 10 strikeouts. Barrow, now 9-5, has played well in the early going.
Gerrie Alleyn had a big 2-run double for the Arctic Blast in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Barrow leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Michael Murdoch and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Arctic Blast ahead, 3-0.
Said losing manager Tomás Mata: "At the end of the day, we've got to play better."
