Metros Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Kenai Traders and Wasilla Sledge Dogs.
Behind the hitting of Du-sung Pyon, the Wasilla Sledge Dogs defeated the Kenai Traders, 3-2. Pyon belted 2 home runs for the Sledge Dogs. Javier Tovar snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season.
Had Darío Fernández not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Fernández hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Sledge Dogs.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Kenai manager Sammy Brown. "The effort was great."
With the win, Wasilla boosts its record to 6-4.
