The Takaoka Shiko did just enough to sneak past the Escondido Stone Brews, 3-2, at The Shrine. Takaoka pitcher Goro Takahashi, in particular, had a standout performance. Takahashi picked up the win for Takaoka, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 5-5. The Shiko now have a record of 35-25.
Soren Teeuw had a big 2-run double for the Shiko in the bottom of the third inning. With Takaoka leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Evandro Arouche and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shiko ahead, 3-0.
"Sometimes a win comes easy," Teeuw told the Takaoka Times. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."
