El Cajon turned a good effort from starter Gerard Reijssen into a win over the Takaoka Shiko at Ballpark of El Cajon. The final score was 5-2. In 6.1 innings, Reijssen surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. O-min Ku recorded the save for El Cajon, his 4th of the season.
Matthew Pollock had a big 2-run double for the Virus in the bottom of the sixth inning. With El Cajon leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Pedro León and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Virus ahead, 3-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said El Cajon manager Francisco Sousa.
El Cajon is now 32-27, while Takaoka is 34-25.
