Maulers Lose Versus Scottish, 5-2
|
The Scottish Claymores got a stellar effort from pitcher Thomas Connolly, helping Scottish score a win over the visiting Manchester Maulers, 5-2. Isei Yano locked down his 11th save. The first-place Claymores go to 28-19.
Eric Nelson had a big run-scoring triple for the Claymores in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Scottish leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from fireballing right-hander Phil Warren and swatted a triple to right. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Claymores ahead, 3-1.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Scottish manager Germán Hernández.
