Roberts Pounds 2 Homers in 5-1 Stone Brews Win
|
Field of the Stone Brews was the site for Baja Cali League action featuring the Mexicali Shmoes and Escondido Stone Brews.
Gordon Roberts drove in all 5 runs for the Escondido Stone Brews, helping them beat the Mexicali Shmoes, 5-1. Picking up the win was Evandro Arouche. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 1.
With Escondido leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Roberts batted against Mexicali pitcher Takesi Kichida. Roberts hit a fastball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Stone Brews on top, 5-1.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Roberts.
The win puts the Stone Brews at 14-16, while the Shmoes drop to 18-12.
