Takaoka pitcher Goro Takahashi had a large part in his team beating the Tijuana Saguaros, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. For the Saguaros, the loss makes their record 9-16.

The decisive blow was delivered by Ken Kodo in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 21-year old left-handed pitcher Anthony Miller to win the game for Takaoka. The home crowd went nuts.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Kodo said.
