The Mexicali Shmoes knocked off the Nagano Olympians, 4-3, in Baja Cali League action at Shmoes Stadium. Mexicali pitcher and Alblasserdam, The Netherlands, native Kelsey Adamse had an outstanding performance. Ryuichi Takano claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 3-0. Jelle Middehof picked up the save for Mexicali, his 8th of the year.

Had Akorakor Warui not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Warui hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Shmoes.

Warui attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."

With the win, Mexicali climbs to 13-9.
