The Calexico Reins faced a tough opponent in Ensenada pitcher Bing-zhong Wa, but found a way to pull out the victory at Triad Ballpark by a final score of 1-0 in 10 innings. Wa went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. Picking up his 1st save was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Manuel Meléndez. Ensenada is 6-10 after the loss.
Calexico needed the clutch hitting of Diego Marín to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Reins on top, 1-0. For the game, Marín had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Joe Buchanan, the Calexico skipper.
