Walk-Off Win Makes Takaoka 7-6
|
The Takaoka Shiko beat the El Cajon Virus, 6-5, with major props going to first baseman Jorge Hernández. On the day, Hernández was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk for the Shiko. The winner was Tokutomi Okumura in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Ánibal Alfonso took the loss. The Virus drop to 4-9, as their stumbling start to the 2042 season continues.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Hernández hit a curveball from Armando Pérez for a run-scoring single. The Shiko, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"If it's down the middle," said Hernández, "you might as well hit it."
