The Nassau Vulcans got a superb performance from pitcher Bill Webb, but the Portsmouth Dockhands still won the game, 5-1. Webb threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Troy Stewart earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record is now 5-1. Mike O'Quinn closed out the game, earning his 21st save.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 22-year old second baseman Carter Jenkins. Jenkins had a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dockhands ahead, 3-1. For the game, Jenkins had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

After the game, Jenkins applauded his team's resolve. "We kept our focus on the task before us," he said.
