Pioneers Come Up Short at Alexandria, 1-0

The Alexandria Macedonians racked up a win at Macedonians Ballpark, bumping off the Fort Wayne Pioneers, 1-0. Emmitt Miron, who started for Alexandria, pitched effectively for his team. Greg Smith picked up his 5th save of the season. With this game in the books, Alexandria is 33-93, Fort Wayne 49-77.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Macedonians had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when second baseman Ben Switzer hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Wang Zhang and made the score 1-0, Macedonians. Switzer was 1 for 3.
"I really like what we did out there today," Miron said after the game.
