Shipbuilders Roll to 10-3 Win Over Vulcans
The Govan Shipbuilders reigned over the Nassau Vulcans in damp conditions.

Steven Simmons had a strong outing for the Govan Shipbuilders against the Nassau Vulcans at Riverside Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 10-3 win. The winning pitcher was Simmons, now 6-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2.

Govan took the lead, 7-3, on Manuel Kruit's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Nassau pitcher Eugene Lewis in the bottom of the eighth.

"We had a good game plan," Simmons said, "and we were able to execute it."

The win puts Govan at 61-53 this season.
