Enrique Ayala brought his A-game to help Birmingham defeat the Rapid City Rushmores, 8-1. Birmingham, now 51-62, holds down 4th place in the Amber Waves League Intercontinental.

Birmingham used a clutch at-bat from Mark Lacey to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bears ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Birmingham manager Charles Jeffries.
