Frontier Fight for 5-4 Win
|
The Cheyenne Frontier knocked off the Rapid City Rushmores, 5-4, in Amber Waves League action at Frontier Ballpark. Cheyenne pitcher and San José, Costa Rica, native José Cabrera had an outstanding performance. The win was credited to Vicente Rivas in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Walter Taylor took the loss. The last-place Frontier now have a win-loss record of 42-53.
The decisive blow was delivered by Vincente Machado in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Walter Taylor to win the game for Cheyenne. The home crowd went nuts.
Cheyenne manager Masujiro Watanabe was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
