Vulcans Absorb 5-2 Home Loss
|
The Alexandria Macedonians converted a terrific effort from starter Olav Brusse into a win over the Nassau Vulcans at Vulcan Field. The Macedonians won the game by a final score of 5-2. Brusse got the win, improving to 2-5. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. The save went to Kazuyoshi Masuda, number 1 for him.
Alexandria used a clutch at-bat from Russ Latham to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Macedonians ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Alexandria manager Chi-ming Xian.
The Macedonians sport a record of 12-46.
