Macedonians Take Down Vulcans, 6-5
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Alexandria Macedonians and Nassau Vulcans.
The Nassau Vulcans could not turn a fine performance from second baseman Brian Wonnocott into a win. Instead, the Alexandria Macedonians prevailed, 6-5, in 10 innings. Wonnocott went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Even with the win, the Macedonians have a dismal 11-46 record.
Mike Stoner delivered a big hit for Alexandria. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Macedonians ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Chi-ming Xian.
