Vintners Win by Slim Margin, 6-5
|
Middle Bass beat Rapid City at Ballpark of Rapid City, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Shotaro Okamoto. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Todd Armstrong picked up his 2nd save of the season. The Vintners saw their record improve to 22-16.
Okamoto had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-0 cutter from Walter Taylor, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Vintners a 6-5 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Okamoto.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Okamoto told the Middle Bass Today. "Whatever it takes."
