Vulcans Win at Home, 4-2

Though the conditions were not ideal, the Nassau Vulcans and Rapid City Rushmores came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Nassau Vulcans topped the Rapid City Rushmores, 4-2, with catcher Juan Jose Marino playing a big role. Marino was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Vulcans in the win. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Brooks Gardner in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jesús Bruno took the loss. Brad Dickson recorded the save for Nassau, his 7th of the season.
With Nassau trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Marino hit a fastball from Jesús Bruno for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Vulcans ahead, 2-1.
"It's fun when you can help the team win games," said Marino.
With this game in the books, Nassau is 20-12, Rapid City 18-14.
