Hitmen Drop Claymores, 2-1

René Padilla pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Scottish Claymores, despite Padilla's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the New Jersey Hitmen at Mercer County Waterfront Park. New Jersey reliever Glenn Roberts got the win, raising his record to 1-3. René Padilla was tagged with the loss. Shinkichi Hasegawa picked up the save for New Jersey, his 7th of the year.
New Jersey went up, 2-1, on Logan Malone's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Malone hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Scottish pitcher René Padilla stewing.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Malone.
The 4th-place Hitmen now have a win-loss record of 12-23.
