Vulcans Win with Late Heroics

The Drumright Tornadoes could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Karl Tinker into a win. Instead, the Nassau Vulcans prevailed, 4-3, in 12 innings. Tinker threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The victory makes Nassau 11-5.
Batting in the bottom of the 12th, 22-year old right fielder Michael Hayes had a real shot to win the game. Drumright pitcher Ming-feng Tsang was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Hayes hit a run-scoring single. The Vulcans had a walk-off triumph.
"Exhilarating win," said Hayes.
