The Kingston Suns inaugurated the 2042 campaign with a disappointing 6-2 loss to the Nassau Vulcans at Jamaica National Baseball Park. Nassau right fielder Pedro Mendoza had a big impact on the outcome. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. Yataro Kamuta was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Frank Sparks earned the save for Nassau, his 1st.

Alfredo Rangel helped out the Nassau cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.
