Waxers Win Nail-Biter
|
The Chandler Waxers beat the Provo Missionaries, 4-3, in 10 innings at Field of the Missionaries. Chandler second baseman Ramón Torres had an outstanding performance. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Fraser MacDuff got the win, improving to 2-6. He held the Missionaries to 3 runs on 6 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The Waxers bumped their record to 28-25 with this latest triumph.
Torres had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 3-1 fastball from John Ross, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Waxers a 4-3 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Torres.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Torres told reporters after the game.
