Iowa City turned a good performance from starting pitcher Rubén Rivas into a 4-2 triumph over the Namuko Puckmen at Puckmen Ballpark. Masami Kamihara picked up the save for Iowa City, his 10th of the year. Iowa City, with the win, climbs to 16-32.
Iowa City used a clutch at-bat from Katsunosuki Kawano to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Kingpins ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Iowa City manager Kyoichi Yoshimura commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
