Late Rally Earns Glendale 3-2 Win
|
Glendale turned a good effort from starter José Tojeira into a win over the Thornton Sun Dogs at Skyelanders Ballpark. The Skyelanders won the game, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Tojeira, now 3-3. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Pedro Ortíz nailed down his 2nd save.
Sadakuno Arai, who is tied for 9th in the RML in hits with 43, aided the Glendale cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"Tough loss," said Thornton manager Mark Richardson. "But that's how the chips sometimes fall."
After today's action, Glendale sits at 19-20, while Thornton falls to 22-17.
