Sun Dogs Defeated, 5-1, After Racine Rallies
|
The Thornton Sun Dogs got a sterling performance from pitcher Xisto Tamayo, but the Racine Lakers still prevailed, 5-1. Tamayo threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Brandon Wilson claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 2-1. With the win, Racine has a record of 25-12. Thornton falls to 22-15.
Racine used the timely hitting of Alejandro López to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lakers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said López. "It sure beats the alternative."
